Empower error: Method has been opened read-only because it is currently being edited by "user name or system" - WKB845

SYMPTOMS

Method "method name" has been opened read-only because it is currently being edited by "user name or system".

ENVIRONMENT

Empower

CAUSE

The method is currently open by the user in another window, or the system/window has terminated while the user had the method open, or the network connection was lost while the user ahd the method open.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close all Empower windows and log out.
2. Log in to Empower, go to Browse Project, and open the project.
3. Go to the Methods tab in the project.
4. Right-click on the method and choose method properties.
5. Click on the Clear button to the left of the text "Being edited by".
6. Close out of the method properties and, if desired, edit the method.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If Clear is grayed out, check if your user type has "Clear Read Only Methods" privilege.

If Clear is grayed out, close all Empower windows and reboot the PC.
