Error: Column manager general failure - WKB8401

SYMPTOMS

• The error "Column manager general failure" appears when trying to start a sample set
• Error: "Advanced method invalid, operating mode is column select"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower
• Empower 2
• Empower 3
• ACQUITY UPLC Column Manager

CAUSE

The column manager was set to Advanced mode in the ACQUITY console but not in the instrument method.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Change the column manager's operating mode to Column Selection in the ACQUITY console.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In MassLynx, also check the instrument method in the shutdown method when the error above returns.
