How do I correct the Empower login error "ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed"? - WKB8397

SYMPTOMS

• Remotely connecting to the Empower server as a domain admin, encounter the Empower login error ">ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed" Other users can connect normally from their Empower client computers or Citrix clients.

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 1 Enterprise Empower 2 Enterprise Empower 3 Enterprise.

CAUSE

The domain admin user permissions do not include full local admin rights to the Empower server when "remoting" into the Empower server as domain admin.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Directly on the server instead of remotely if possible, log in to the Empower server as a local administrator instead of as a domain administrator.
