Why can't I see the custom field name "Solvent" that I created in Empower? - WKB76156

Article number: 76156

SYMPTOMS

  • Created the custom field name "Solvent" but it is not visible on the custom field tab
  • When importing a project from Empower 3 FR3 that contains a custom field name "Solvent" to Empower 3 FR4, the custom field name is not visible

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3
  • Empower 2
  • Empower 3 Personal
  • Empower 3 Workgroup
  • Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

The name "Solvent" is a native field in Empower 3 FR4, so you can't use it as a custom name in Empower 3 FR4. The Waters software developer updates the list of native fields with each iteration of software.

FIX or WORKAROUND

There is no fix for this issue. If you really want to use the name "Solvent", add an "s" to it: Solvents.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

There will be no audit trail entry for the "Solvent" field as it is already in the database and by enabling the GPC option in project properties, the software is just allowing you to view the "Solvent" custom field that is already a part of the GPC software. The "Solvent" field will not show in the properties tab of the project unless the GPC option is selected. The field cannot be deleted.
