"Failed to create directory" error when creating a new project in Empower - WKB75707
Article number: 75707
SYMPTOMS
- "Failed to create directory" error when trying to create a project; the error lists the project share
- Does not matter which user tries to create the project
- When testing the file service and file share in Empower Configuration Manager (system policies > Manage Raw Data Files), the paths are invalid
- Cannot review any data from a client in a previously created project; a "data missing" message occurs
- Check the LAC/E recover.log for possible causes
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower 3 Feature Release 4 and later versions
- Enterprise
CAUSE
Permissions issue on the project share
FIX or WORKAROUND
IT must address the permissions issue on the project share.
- Add the domain user account or accounts to the network share permissions.
- If they are not already there, give the Windows built-in System account full control permissions to both the Empower server's Waters_projects$ raw data share permissions and the Empower\Projects folder security permissions.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If still not working, add the Everyone user account with Full Control to the raw data share and test.
Confirm that the DCOM settings are set according to the installation guide on the server first and then on the clients and LAC/Es.
