Agilent 6850/6890/7890 GC with a G1888A Headspace with Status "Waiting for Prep Run" using Empower - WKB74043

SYMPTOMS

• When running an Instrument Method that has Gas Saver enabled on an Agilent GC with a G1888 Headspace, the status stays at "Waiting for Prep Run".
• The Sample Set continues if the Prep Run button on the front panel of the GC is manually pressed.
• This happens whether or not the "Prep Run on Manual Request" is selected or cleared in the Pre-Configuration Utility (under the Configuration Tab of the GC).

ENVIRONMENT

• Agilent 6850 GC or Agilent 6890 GC or Agilent 7890 GC with an Agilent G1888 Headspace
• Empower 3
• Agilent Instrument Control Framework 3.0 and above

CAUSE

"Prep Run on Manual Request" does not work for the Agilent G1888. The G1888 does not supply a prep signal.

FIX or WORKAROUND

• Enable Auto Prep to "ON"  through the front panel of the GC.
• Set the Auto Prep option to ON if you intend to run with an Instrument Method that utilizes Gas Saver Mode, Splitless Injection, Pulsed Split/Splitless Injection, or Solvent Vent Injection. This should be enabled for all samplers except ALS and the default value is to be enabled for all samplers except ALS.
