ANSWER
There is nothing inherently problematic with backing up the Empower database by running the Oracle Hot Backups, as long as they are taken consistently. The customer should test and verify that the Hot Backup scripts are running as expected and that a documented procedure exists for recovering Empower database(s) using these backups.
