Unable to save message center backup or system audit trail backup in Empower - WKB59420

SYMPTOMS

• Attempting to archive the System Audit Trail
• Attempting to archive the Message Center
• Error: "You do not have permission to modify files in this network location"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower

CAUSE

The account used to log in to Windows does not have the privileges necessary to write the files requested. The archive files are being created outside of the database and are thus not governed by the privileges within Empower.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. With the correct view and archive audit trail privileges granted in Empower, writing and saving the archive files is governed by the Windows account permissions.
2. Permissions to create, write, and delete files are governed through the Windows account privileges, not through Empower.
3. Make sure the user's Windows account has the correct privileges to write files in the locations specified when performing these operations in Empower.
