CAUSE

Corrupt user preferences

FIX or WORKAROUND

Copy user preferences from a user with good preferences.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Corrupt preferences can affect the instrument method because preferences also affect the views of tables and the instrument method is like a table. When a preference gets corrupted, there are many reasons why preferences can become corrupted, such as when a workstation hangs or crashes. The default views may also get corrupted, and anything the instrument method displays is also subject to failure.

Deleting a preference may not work as deleting it reverts it back to its default values. If the default values are corrupted, you must create a new user to get the new preferences, or copy preferences from a good user.
