Empower fails on launch/login - WKB330201

SYMPTOMS

• Application Empower.exe fails during launch or logon
• No UI or login screen appears, or failure occurs immediately after a login attempt on Empower workstation with v3.10.0 installed
• Windows Event Viewer shows:
  • Faulting application name: Empower.exe
  • Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll
  • Exception code: 0xebf00bab (or 0xe06d7363)

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3

CAUSE

The failure occurs because Empower cannot start the required .NET runtime during initialization.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. The .NET Runtime (x86) required by Empower is missing or incompatible.
2. Ensure that the .NET Runtime version is 8.011 (x86) and the .NET ASPNET Core Runtime version is 8.011 (x86).
3. Use the Setup Prerequisites folder from the media to install the .NET Runtime and VC redistributable packages.
