SYMPTOMS
- Third injection stops with the following error messages in the message center:
- Oracle Error ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
- UPDATE CHROMATOGRAM SET INFO = :info WHERE ID = :id
- Instrument Failure ACQ-CM#(serial number)
- Recovered Sample Set from file C:\Empower\InstrumentServer\"NODE NAME"\EMPOWER2\"PROJECT NAME"\Sampset.dat
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower 3 Enterprise
- LAC/E box (LAC/E/LAC/E 32)
CAUSE
There are two possible causes:
1) Antivirus is performing a scan and update to definitions during an acquisition.
2) Custom fields are changed multiple times after the data was already saved in the database.
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Copy the data to a new cloned project.
- Restart the LAC/E box.
- Rerun the sample set.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Waters recommends that you exclude all Empower folders and files from any antivirus scanning software.
