EESR: Empower Enterprise Status Report
CDS: Chromatography Data System
DC: Data Collector
Instructions:
This tool can be run on any computer that has an Empower Client installed, this could be a LAC/e, a Client or the DB server. For performance reasons we advise to run it on the Empower Server, but internet connection is required to obtain any update to the tool.
This article covers the process to update the Data Collector executable and to run it on an appropriate computer to generate a zip file that contains the logs generated.

The package contains the ‘CDS Data Collector.exe’ file as well as links to the following links to Waters articles:

1. Start the ‘CDS Data Collector’ by double-clicking on the file ‘CDS Data Collector.exe’.
2. Once the ‘CDS Data Collector’ is running, please click the ‘?’ and then click ‘Check For Update’:

Note: If the Empower computer that you plan to run this tool on does not have internet connection, then you can run the tool on a non Empower computer to check/get the latest version and then copy any updated version to the Empower computer you plan to run the tool on.
If you get a message saying ‘New version available’ then click ‘Download’ to download the latest version:
If you get a message pop up saying ‘No new version Available’, then click the ‘Close’ button:
Once downloaded, close the ‘CDS Data Collector’ application and launch the latest version that you downloaded
3. Once you are running the latest version of the ‘CDS Data Collector’ application you will see the following window:

Below is a description of the information for each section of the window:
a. Customer Information
Fill in your company’s details. ‘*’ represents a required field.
b. Database User Account
If you are not using the default (Oracle user System) user/password, then enter your user (Oracle user System) and password and select the appropriate database to connect to.
Test connection by clicking on the icon:
If the connection is successful, then a ‘Succeed...’ statement will be displayed:
c. Projects
This is not necessary for this type of collection.
d. Collection’s Profile
Leave it as the default profile. Only change if Waters instructs you to.
e. Save Data in
Click the Folder button to browse to the folder location where you wish to save your data to.
Recommended file naming convention:
<Company_Site_Country>_Data Collector Logs_<yyyymmdd>
4. After filling in the all the information, click on the ‘OK’ button to confirm the setup.

5. In the next window, start the collection by clicking on the ‘play’ icon:

6. The data collection will now start:

Note this could take some time, depending on the size of your database.
7. A statement will alert you when the collection has been successfully completed:
8. Close the ‘CDS Data Collector’ application.
9. Using File Explorer, browse to the location selected in step 3.e, Where you will find a ZIP file created by the application.
Upload the zip file following the instructions as detailed in the document called ‘EESR (Step 2) - How to upload the Waters CDS Data Collector Logs to Waters for an EESR Analysis”.
E.g.:
Please only upload the zip file. The File Share will refuse upload of individual files.
Please do not zip the ZIP file.
If the uploaded files are double zipped then they will not be processed.
If the uploaded files are not zipped, you will get the following error:
‘You attempted to upload a file type that is not allowed on this Server'.
