Random communication failures between Empower and an ACQUITY UPLC - WKB2901

SYMPTOMS

  • Communication fails randomly throughout the day
  • "Communication failure" observed in the Empower Message Center and in the ACQUITY console

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3
  • All ACQUITY systems
  • Personal or LAC/E

CAUSE

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is active on the instrument LAN card in the computer.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
  2. Select Instrument LAN, right-click, and select Properties.
  3. On the Networking tab, clear the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) check box, and then click OK.
