ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower
  • Enterprise
  • Buffering
  • Alter running sample

CAUSE

Transient or partial buffering scenarios, especially where raw data is on a separate server from the database server, may not behave as described in the buffering white paper - https://help.waters.com/help/en/support/library-details.html?documentid=TECN10168834

FIX or WORKAROUND

There will be no "Altered Running Sample Set" audit entry if a user alters a running sample set while under this partial disconnection scenario where the database connection is intact but the connection to the WatersService on the fileshare is affected.

  • Before altering a running sample set, verify that the Run Samples window does not show the buffering icon clipboard_ebbbd1fc3ec9fe9b64382e3f8190788bc.png.
  • If altering the running sample set is performed while under buffering, be aware that only a "Modified Method" audit entry will be recorded.
