Altered running sample set audit trail entry not recorded when buffering is triggered by disconnection of the WatersService on the fileshare but the database remains connected - WKB287528
Article number: 287528
SYMPTOMS
- Buffering is triggered by disconnection, lack of authentication or access to the WatersService on the fileshare
- Client run samples show the buffering icon
- LAC/E run samples show the buffering icon
- Database remains connected
- Empower run samples and project operate without issue
- Alter running sample is possible in Run Samples
- Modified method audit trail entry is recorded
- Altered running sample set audit trail entry is not recorded
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower
- Enterprise
- Buffering
- Alter running sample
CAUSE
Transient or partial buffering scenarios, especially where raw data is on a separate server from the database server, may not behave as described in the buffering white paper - https://help.waters.com/help/en/support/library-details.html?documentid=TECN10168834
FIX or WORKAROUND
There will be no "Altered Running Sample Set" audit entry if a user alters a running sample set while under this partial disconnection scenario where the database connection is intact but the connection to the WatersService on the fileshare is affected.
- Before altering a running sample set, verify that the Run Samples window does not show the buffering icon
.
- If altering the running sample set is performed while under buffering, be aware that only a "Modified Method" audit entry will be recorded.
