SYMPTOMS

• Cannot log in to Empower Personal Edition
• ORA-12514: TNS listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Personal Edition

CAUSE

IPv6 is enabled on the LAN connection being used for connectivity to the instruments.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Disable IPv6 in the properties of the NIC being used to connect Empower to the instruments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

You may continue to use IPv6 on the NIC used to connect the Empower PC to the corporate LAN.
