How to add new components to an existing processing method in Empower 3 - WKB234938

Add new components to existing processing methods.

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3

PROCEDURE

1. Review the chromatogram of the new component.
2. Select "File" menu > Open > Processing Method.
3. "Process" menu > Integration.
4. Click on the new component peak, highlight it in red, right-click and select Add/Edit Component Name.
5. In the Edit Component Name window, type the name of the new component in the Name field, and click OK.
6. Select "Process" menu > Quantitate or Calibrate, and confirm that the correct name appears.
7. If the correct name is not displayed, select Options > Show Components.
8. Narrow the short lines before and after the displayed component marker.
9. If the correct name still does not appear, select Window menu > Open Processing Method.
10. From the Peak Match options on the Components tab, select settings that are likely to suit your situation (e.g., Greatest Area).
11. Window menu > Open Main Window.
12. Select Process menu > Quantitate or Calibrate, and confirm that the correct name appears.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

For versions that do not show the Add/Edit Component Name menu in step 4 above, use the following steps:

1. Review the chromatogram of the new component.
2. Select "File" menu > Open > Processing Method.
3. "Process" menu > Integration.
4. Note the retention time of the new component.
5. Select "Window" menu > Processing Method.
6. Open the "Components" tab, type the new component name in the Name column of the last row of the table, and specify the retention time you noted earlier in the Retention Time column.
7. Select Window menu > Main Window.
8. Select "Process" menu > Quantitate or Calibrate, and confirm that the correct name appears.
9. If the correct name still does not appear, select Options > Show Components.
10. Narrow the short lines before and after the displayed component marker.
11. If the correct name still does not appear, select Window menu > Open Processing Method.
12. From the Peak Match options on the Components tab, select settings that are likely to suit your situation (e.g., Greatest Area).
13. Window menu > Open Main Window.
14. Select Process menu > Quantitate or Calibrate, and confirm that the correct name appears.
