Empower-MVM "Formula syntax error" messages appear - WKB232078

SYMPTOMS

• When using MVM validation study project, if a user alters a sample or takes sample set in to the review window and integrates the chromatogram or process the sample set, the following error message can appear in the message center:
  • "Formula syntax error: The statement is incomplete. This may be caused by missing values, missing braces or extra braces at the end of the statement.”

CAUSE

Defect CRI-4469 opened

The two custom fields Validation Study Pass/Fail and Validation Result Pass/Fail are built-in calculated Enum custom Result fields with blank formulas. The blank formulas cause the warning messages when processing results.

Although this is a valid error for other calculated custom fields with empty formulas, the defect here is that the formula syntax error messages should not be written to the message center for these two validation custom fields.

These fields should only be calculated during Validation processing; they should be ignored when processing regular Empower results. 

FIX or WORKAROUND

The existence of this error does not impact data or results in any way and can be disregarded. Processing the data in a Standard project will avoid this error.
