SYMPTOMS

• Result set generated with NO peak labels
• Error message in Empower message center: "Chrom open for read failed, file \\SERVERNAME\Waters Projects$\ProjectName\Datafile.dat, err = 'The user name or password is incorrect'"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

• Lack of permission to the raw data share path for the user
• User changed the Windows login password during the Empower session

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Ensure that the user can access the raw data share path with their credentials.
2. The Windows login password should not be changed when an Empower session (including Citrix session) is open or idle.
3. Log off and log in again from Windows in all active clients whenever a user password is changed or locked.
4. Recommendation: Do not wait until the password expires. Change the Windows password before the expiry.
