Can set up and monitor with Agilent 1260 and Empower 3, but the message center displays the error "Detector Error Instrument Failure" when you start the run - WKB205361

SYMPTOMS

• Can set up and monitor, but when trying to start the run, the error "Detector Error Instrument Failure" appears in message center

ENVIRONMENT

• Agilent 1260
• Empower 3

CAUSE

Vial tray installation error
Because it is installed by sliding from the front to the back and there is a slight gap in the back, the instrument error occurs when it tries to pick up the vial. "Instrument Failure - communication error" is recorded on the Empower side.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Install the vial tray correctly.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

When registering the system in Empower, the model number and serial number of the detector are registered as representative of the entire LC instrument.
The message center may also record detector errors, even with pump or autosampler instrument errors.
