About the Empower 3 Enterprise buffering - WKB192145

ANSWER

■ What is buffering?
If the communication on the Empower network is temporarily stopped, the communication between the LAC/E and the server will be temporarily lost.
If communication between the LAC/E and the server is lost, the sample set data being running is temporarily stored in the LAC/E,
and is sent to the server after the communication between the LAC/E and the server is restored.

■ Is it possible to check if the data is saved in LAC/E without any problem during buffering?
As for the action of the instrument, if the injection proceeds sequentially by the autosampler, it can be considered that it is well controlled from LAC/E.
Therefore, there would be no need to confirm the location of the data.
The data is saved in the LAC/E project directory (i.e. C:\Empower\Instrumentserver\<System Name>\<Server Name>\<Project Name>\),
but whether or not this data is normal can only be determined after transferring to the server.

■ If the data is temporarily stored in LAC/E, will the data transfer to the server occur when the running sample set is complete?
→ For Empower 3 FR5,
you can select the data recovery method after buffering using the Node Properties window.
・If "After Injection Recovery" is selected, it will transfer without waiting for the next injection when the injection being running is completed.
・If "After Sample Set Recovery" is selected, it will transfer after all sample sets are completed.
The former setting increases the possibility that the instrument server application will become unresponsive due to the data transfer from multiple acquisition nodes at once.
After selecting "Node" in the tree bar on the left side of the Configuration Manager window, right-click the relevant LAC/E from the list of LAC/Es displayed on the right side and select "Properties".
Check the Recovery options on the General tab of the Node Properties window.

■ If data running has not been transferred, is it possible to manually send the data temporarily stored in LAC/E to the server during run?
→ There is no way to manually send it to the server during run.

■ Is there a way to check if buffering has occurred without being correctly transferred to the server?
→ Check the following file on LAC/E,
the same message (for example, "Begin Recover Sweep") should appear periodically every ten minutes when the network is communicating normally.
\\Empower\Instrument Server\recover.log
At the time when buffering occurs, the message changes to something like "Start buffering".
You can check the buffering details in this recovery log.
