"COM Fatal error" on Agilent 7890 GC using Empower - WKB15676

SYMPTOMS

• When clicking on Run Samples and selecting system, the error "COM Fatal error" appears
• Node properties show instrument status "No" for GC and Headspace
• No changes to DCOM or any Windows settings
• Issue involves only one LAC/E

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Feature Release 1 (FR1) - client server
• Agilent 7890A
• Agilent 7697A Headspace

CAUSE

Loss of instrument connection

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Remove the 7890A and the 7697A from the DHCP server window.
2. Shut down the LAC/E and the system.
3. Power-up the LAC/E.
4. Power-up the system.
