How is the Relative Response field used in Empower 3? - WKB14218
ENVIRONMENT
- Empower 3
- Processing method Components field
ANSWER
From the Empower 3 help menus:
Relative Response scales the response of a specified component to that of the component named in the Curve Reference field. A relative response may be required when a component is referenced against a calibration curve for a component that has a much different response for the same amount or concentration.
You determine the relative response of the component (as a ratio) as follows:
Relative Response = Response of Reference Curve Peak ÷ Response of Peak
On the basis of the value you enter, the software multiplies the peak response by the relative response and then uses the adjusted response to calculate the amount or concentration from the calibration curve.
For example, if the reference calibration curve response (Y value) is 33754 for a concentration of 10 mg/mL but the component response is 3375 (10-fold less) for the same concentration, you would use a Relative Response value of 10 to adjust the response.
Entries: 0.001 to 1000.
