CAUSE

Attempting to lock channels in a locked state will not generate an audit event because no change occurred.

Attempting to unlock channels in an unlocked state will not generate an audit trail event because no change occurred.

Attempting to lock channels in an unlocked state should generate an audit trail event.

Attempting to unlock channels in a locked state should generate an audit trail event.

Defect possible when the Sample Set contains a mix of locked and unlocked channels. Please contact Waters Technical Support to discuss further.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

PCS # 55901 documents a defect where attempts to lock or unlock channels via Samples Set may not result in audit trail events as expected. It is hypothesized that the presence of channels in both states can trigger a logic error: If the first condition is a change, an audit trail is entered properly. If the first condition is not a change, no audit trail is recorded.
