SYMPTOMS

• Getting message "Database Connection ORA 12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist at login"

ENVIRONMENT

• Empower 3 Enterprise

CAUSE

Confirm the HOST entry in the Empower client TNSNAMES.ora file (located under C:\Empower\Oracle\Oracle11gClient_2\network\admin). Could be:

• Incorrect IP address listed

OR

• Incorrect server name listed (may require servername.domain.com OR just servername)

FIX or WORKAROUND

• Correct HOST entry in the Empower client's TNSNAMES.ora file
