"Invalid run control call sequence" with Agilent GC - WKB123284
SYMPTOMS
- Empower Message Center captures "Instrument Failure AgilentGC#XXXXX"
- ICF logs capture error "Invalid run control call sequence" at time of incident
ENVIRONMENT
- Agilent ICF All Versions
- Empower 3
CAUSE
This behavior with GC was investigated with CRI-2722. The Agilent team has confirmed that in all the cases where Invalid run control call sequence was reported, it was identified that the difference between GC cycle time and Oven time is less than 7 to 8 minutes. It's recommended to have a difference of at least 7-8 minutes between GC cycle time and Oven time which is required for many parameters to settle in GC.
FIX or WORKAROUND
Increase the GC cycle time to have minimum of 8 minutes difference than oven run time.
For Example: For a method with GC cycle time (30 min) and Oven time (25 min) the time difference between GC cycle time and Oven time is only 5 minutes, since Oven time is 25 min, GC cycle time should be set to 32 minutes or 33 minutes in above case.
