With Empower 3 GPC option, when displaying the molecular weight distribution curve of a Broad Unknown on a report, the displayed region is narrower than the region integrated in the review window - WKB118181

Article number: 118181

SYMPTOMS

  • When displaying the molecular weight distribution curve of a Broad Unknown on a report, the displayed region is narrower than the region integrated in the review window

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3
  • GPC option

CAUSE

The part outside the range of the calibration curve is not displayed on the molecular weight distribution curve.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Change the V0 - Vt region in the processing method to cover the peak elution region of the broad unknown sample.
  2. If nothing is entered for V0 and Vt, the range of the calibration curve = the range between the maximum and minimum values of the calibration curve points, so a standard sample with a molecular weight that covers the peak region of the broad unknown is used to add points on the calibration curve.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Though the formula of the calibration curve does not change when changing the region of V0 and Vt, the calculation result of the molecular weight changes because the quantification range changes.

You can also confirm this in Review Results before previewing:

  1. Select "Window" menu > Results in the Review Results window.
  2. Open the "Distribution" tab under the table at the top of the Results window.
  3. Open the "Distribution Plots" tab under the table at the bottom of Results window.

Note: For regions outside the V0 - Vt range, the check box in the "Outside V0-Vt" column of the molecular weight distribution table is on.
