What is meant by recovery options in node properties on Empower 3 FR5 and above? - WKB107689

Article number: 107689

ENVIRONMENT

  • Empower 3 Enterprise FR5, 3.6, 3.7

ANSWER

You can now disable after-injection data recovery when a node exits data buffering mode. This makes it so all data recovery performed by the recovery sweep happens only after a sample set run is complete. Normally, if Empower can exit buffering mode while a sample set is still running, it attempts after-injection recovery when the current injection completes.

If a sample set run completes before Empower can exit buffering mode, a recovery sweep, which runs every ten minutes, looks for data to be recovered. If unrecovered data is found, the sweep initiates a recovery. The recovery sweep recovers only one sample set at a time. After-injection recovery is performed by each system independently.

Multiple systems can attempt recovery at the same time. This type of concurrent recovery occasionally causes the Instrument Server application to stop responding. When this happens, any pending injections are lost. A Connection to Chromatography System Lost message appears in the Message Center and also as a pop-up message. Any buffered data is recovered after restarting Empower.

Recommendation: Disable after-injection recovery only when you experience this failure while recovering buffered data.

To disable after-injection recovery in favor of after-sample set recovery:

  1. In Configuration Manager, navigate to the Node Properties dialog box, General tab.
  2. In the Recovery Options section, select After Sample Set Recovery.
  3. When using the After Sample Set Recovery option:
  • The systems recover from buffering one at a time, sequentially.
  • Any sample set can be recovered after it completes, even if other sample sets are still acquiring data.
  • You cannot access a system's buffered data until that system recovers.
