Enhancement PCS # 55760 has been submitted to include definitions for Error, Inform, and Warning message types in the Empower 3 and above Help topics.

Empower 1 Help had the following definitions:

Message Types

  • Inform – Instructs the user that an action was just taken by Empower software. For example, an Inform message appears in the Message Center when a user logs in to Empower software.
  • Error – Indicates a detected failure, such as an instrument setup error.
  • Warning – Indicates that a system error may be occurring or is about to occur. You can take corrective action in response to warnings.

 

Empower 3.8.1 Help includes the following information about the Message Center table:

Column

Description

Message Id

Sequence number for a Message Center message.

Tip: You can search for a specific message by searching for its Id number.

Type

Inform - Describes general information about the system. Examples include database updates to projects and changes to project directory.

Warning - Reports an event or condition that occurred. Examples include memory allocation and processing errors.

Error - Indicates an error condition. Examples include unsuccessful login attempts, instrument failures, and project integrity errors.

Category

Archive - Auto Archive messages.

General - Changes to system objects that appear in the system audit trail, such as project version updates and changes in the project directory.

E-mail - Email messages, such as connection failure to the SMTP server, messages that occurred when sending email notifications.

Instrument - Instrument failures, such as calibration messages and an instrument not functioning properly.

Processing -Processing messages, such as missing options and processing errors.

Security - Security messages, such as unsuccessful login attempts, project integrity messages, and a user trying to log on with an account that does not exist.

Date

Date and time the message was generated.

Application

Empower application where the message was generated.

User

User and user type that generated the message.

User Location

User's location, as identified in the user's properties, when the message was generated.

Project

Project that the user was working in when the message was generated.

Message

An explanation of the message.
