Insufficient suction with extraction manifold - WKB122379

Article number: 122379

SYMPTOMS

  • The decompression gauge of the extraction manifold (186008998) does not go down, even when the vacuum pump is started

ENVIRONMENT

  • Waters 20-Position Extraction Manifold
  • Solid-phase extraction (SPE)

CAUSE

Incomplete airtightness

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Block all needle tips (close all if stopcock valve is installed).
  2. Clean the contact surface between the glass chamber (186008991) and the white Delrin cover (186008990).
  3. Close the cover and start the vacuum pump.
  4. If suction is insufficient after step 3, start the pump while firmly holding the cover.

If suction is correct after step 4, the gasket (WAT200690) may have deteriorated, so replace it with a new one.

Further, if the needle tip is frequently removed, the needle insertion port may become loose, which also causes poor decompression.

In that case, replace the cover.
