How to determine if a pressure increase is due to the column or the guard column - WKB24162

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Determine if the guard column or the column is responsible for an increase in pressure.

ENVIRONMENT

• HPLC
• UPLC

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the column from the system and see if the back pressure decreases. If it does, clean the column per the care and use manual.
2. If high pressure remains, remove the guard column and put the column back in place. If the back pressure decreases, replace the guard column.
