ANSWER
Methanol and acetonitrile are often used with common silica-based C18 columns.
In addition, ethanol, isopropanol (IPA), tetrahydrofuran (THF), and others are also used as mobile phases for reverse-phase chromatography.
Strong solvents such as tetrahydrofuran can irreversibly degrade the flow path of the LC system.
In the case of a polymer-based C18 column, a column with column hardware made of resin, or a column with the inner wall (wetted part) coated with polymer,
the above solvents may not be applicable to the mobile phase.
Always check the LC system and column solvent resistance information before use.
