How to make 0.5 mM sodium hydroxide solution - WKB9450

Article number: 9450

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Make a 0.5 mM sodium hydroxide solution for use with a mass spectrometer.

ENVIRONMENT

  • MassLynx 4.1
  • Xevo G2-XS QTof

PROCEDURE

To make a 0.5 mM solution of sodium hydroxide, dissolve 20 mg of sodium hydroxide in 1 L of solvent.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A 0.5 mM sodium hydroxide solution is used with a variety of test sample preparations for QTof instrumentation. Various kits come with pre-made sodium hydroxide solution (such as the TOF G2-S Sample Kit-2, part 700008892) and are then used in the preparation of other solutions like the 0.5 mM sodium formate solution (for example, see KCS article #2458).
