Can I use RapiGest SF to prevent protein binding without denaturing a protein? - WKB231856

Article number: 231856

ENVIRONMENT

  • Protein digestion
  • RapiGest SF

ANSWER

Possibly, but RapiGest SF was not designed for this use.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Due to the complex nature of proteins, experimentation would be needed to determine the concentration at which RapiGest SF could inhibit protein binding without denaturing each protein.

Detergents such as Tween or Triton X may be screened for this purpose.

Use of low ionic strength buffers may also be screened for this purpose.

RapiGest SF is designed to denature proteins in order to allow trypsin (or other enzymes) better access to cleavage sites during a protein digestion.
