Does internal pressure change due to the temperature of the CO2 gas cylinder on SFC Prep 15? - WKB109859

Article number: 109859

ENVIRONMENT

  • SFC Prep 15
  • SFC Prep 30
  • SFC Prep 100
  • SFC Prep 150AP
  • Investigator SFC System
  • MV-10
  • ACQUITY UPC2

ANSWER

The CO2 cylinder used in the SFC system is around 6.0 Mpa when full.

However, this pressure changes due to changes of the outside temperature (installation environment) of the gas cylinder.

For liquid carbon dioxide:

Outside temperature Cylinder internal pressure

-25 °C    1.582 MPa (approximately 229 psi)

-20 °C    1.869 MPa (approximately 243 psi)
-15 °C    2.190MPa (approximately 317psi)
-10 °C    2.548 MPa (approximately 355 psi)

-5 °C    2.945 MPa (approximately 428 psi)
0 °C    3.383 MPa (approximately 490 psi)
+5 °C    3.867 MPa (approximately 560 psi)
+10 °C    4.399 MPa (approximately 638 psi)
+15 °C    4.940MPa (approximately 716psi)
+20 °C    5.625 MPa (approximately 815 psi)
+25 °C    6.330 MPa (approximately 918 psi)
+30 °C    7.107 MPa (approximately 1030 psi)

Normally, in a room where an SFC system is installed, the room temperature should be kept constant at roughly 25 °C.

Also, it is preferred to store new CO2 cylinders at room temperature for at least half a day before using.
