- Upon restart from the reset switch or cycling the MS power, the EPC does not go through the correct sequence and communication is not established.
EPC failure to restart properly occurs when the BIOS are reset to the defaults. A power-down of the instrument along with a dead backup battery on the EPC PCB results in the loss of the BIOS sequence.
FIX or WORKAROUND
Replace the 3V Lithium button battery (WAT080443)
- Power-down the Mass Spectometer.
- Open the EPC card cage.
- Leave all the connections to the EPC.
- Replace the 3V battery on the EPC PCB.
- Close the EPC card cage.
- Power-on the ZQ.
Consult the Ethernet Instrument Getting Started Guide, 71500074403 to ensure that settings are correct on the computer.
If the battery replacement fails, try replacing the compact flash rom, 700009071.
If the battery and the flash rom replacement fail, replace the EPC, 700005904.
