Xevo TQ-S or G2-S/-XS QTof crash vented and does not pump down - WKB51233

SYMPTOMS

• Xevo mass spectrometer crash vented and is unable to pump down.

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo TQ-S
• Xevo G2-S
• Xevo G2-XS

CAUSE

The scroll pump/rotary pump has failed.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Replace the faulty scroll pump/rotary pump.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

With scroll pumps, be certain to unplug the power cord for at least five minutes, and then try pumping again; there is sometimes a logic in the electronics of the pump that causes a latch. Also, be certain that the small screw on the black connector at the bottom of the pump is screwed on fully. There is a thermocouple sensor connection here, and if it is not connected, the pump will not turn on.
