Constant or Intermittent communication and dropouts caused by faulty EPC - WKB4863

SYMPTOMS

  • Intermittent communication with MS or no communicaions at all
  • Random dropouts or system unresponsiveness seen while idle, in Standby, or during acquisitions

Errors seen may include any the following at different times:

  • Cannot communicate to EPC via Hyperterminal
  • Cannot ping IP address of EPC
  • NetEvaluator shows red / no connection to the MS, but the inlets are okay
  • LED light on EPC is red
  • Error message: "Probe not connected"
  • On board diagnostic page, the RF Barrier PCB is not visible
  • Error "lost connection to embedded PC" and must perform a full reboot of PC and MS

CAUSE

Faulty EPC

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Replace the EPC 
  2. Check which MassLynx version supports the new EPC. (Select your instrument from this article  WKB554)
