Negative mode calibration fails on Xevo G3 or G2-XS with waters_connect - WKB289015
Article number: 289015
SYMPTOMS
- Negative mode calibration fails
- Mean Prediction error limit exceeds the threshold value
- Linear Residuals plot in the calibration report shows a trough at 316 m/z
- In the reference peaks table of the report, the 316.9479 expected reference peak is matched against an observed peak with measured m/z of ~316.74
- Both the 316.74 peak and the 316.9479 peak are present in the data
- Positive mode calibration passes
ENVIRONMENT
- waters_connect
- Xevo G3
- Xevo G2-XS
- Xevo MRT
CAUSE
Contamination. Both the contaminant peak (316.74) and the correct peak (316.949) are present in the data, but the calibration algorithm is picking the wrong one. This issue is logged under CRI-7248.

FIX or WORKAROUND
Make up fresh calibration solution and repeat the calibration.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The closest match in Chemspider to 316.74 Da is copper iodide.
