After a front-end source cleaning, weak to no ion beam seen on SQD2, Xevo TQ Absolute, Xevo TQ MS, Xevo TQD, Xevo TQ-S, Xevo TQ-S cronos, Xevo TQ-XS, or Xevo TQ-S micro - WKB253132

Article number: 253132

SYMPTOMS

  • Strong ion beam signal before venting/cleaning of front-end source components
  • Weak to no ion beam observed in positive or negative ion modes with same tune page settings
  • Engineer settings not changed
  • All readbacks are normal
  • Unit pumps down and pressure test passes
  • Isolation valve confirmed open
  • Flow to/from the probe confirmed

ENVIRONMENT

  • SQ Detector 2
  • Xevo TQD
  • Xevo TQ-S cronos
  • Xevo TQ-S micro
  • Xevo TQ MS
  • Xevo TQ-S
  • Xevo TQ-XS

CAUSE

Missing O-ring on the ion support block section that pushes against the ion guide

FIX or WORKAROUND

Install the O-ring.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Example of missing O-ring from the lip of the ion support block section that pushes against the ion guide:

Verify that all O-rings are present and undamaged.

Ensure that the source region vacuum pressure readback on Xevo TQ MS, Xevo TQ-S, or Xevo TQ-XS is within performance range, and that the vacuum pressure readback prior to venting and cleaning is not much higher.
