OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Replace the argon tank for a mass spectrometer.

ENVIRONMENT

• All Waters Mass Spectrometers and Time of Flight instruments 

PROCEDURE

1. Turn off all gases (Collision, API, TRAP, and IMS) from the Tune page.
2. Close the valve on top of the argon tank.
3. Close any shutoff valves between the argon tank and the instrument.
4. Remove the regulator from the empty argon tank.
5. Install the regulator onto the new argon tank.
6. Open the valve at the top of the argon tank.
7. Open any of the shutoff valves that were closed in step 3.
8. Turn on collision gas from the Tune page.
