SYMPTOMS

  • Mass spec may show a "Turbo controller fault"
  • Mass spec vents shortly after sample cone and gas cone nozzle are replaced

CAUSE

The orange O-ring that sits under the gas cone nozzle on the ion block becomes worn and no longer maintains vacuum.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Close the isolation valve & keep it closed

  2. Remove the cone & cone nozzle

  3. Check o-ring and replace if damaged 

  4. Re-install both cone & cone nozzle

  5. Check the vacuum

  6. Re-open the isolation valve

If these steps don't resolve the problem

Replace the orange O-ring (700004728 for a package of 5)
