SYMPTOMS

• High system pressure
• No MS beam
• The capillary is being pushed out of the probe

ENVIRONMENT

• Quattro Micro
• SYNAPT G2
• SYNAPT G2-S
• SYNAPT G2-Si
• Xevo G2-S
• Xevo G2-XS

CAUSE

• Failure to flush buffers out of the system before pumping organic solvent
• Salt precipitates out of solution when organic solvents hit them, causing restriction in the capillary
• Restriction from salt precipitates causes capillary to be pushed out of position

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Rebuild the probe
2. Before you connect to a newly rebuilt probe, flush buffers out of the LC system and route to waste
