What is the expected gain of the detector on the AutoSpec? - WKB11558

Article number: 11558

ENVIRONMENT

  • AutoSpec
  • AutoSpec Premier
  • MassLynx

ANSWER

The gain—measured by centering a peak with 10-30% peak top noise on the peak display at 1 ppm span width and 100 ms scan time—is an important marker of detector performance. The gain is expected to double with every increase of 30 V on the detector voltage and to be more than 120,000 (1.2e5) at 400 V.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. Should the gain be lower than expected at 400 V or the gain not increase as expected, it may indicate a problem with the PM tube, detector dynode supply/feedthrough, detector assembly, or head amp.
  2. Negative Ion Gain is lower than Positive Ion Gain because the Detector Dynode voltages do not swap/change.

Very important - Return the span width to a normal value after measurement.
