SYMPTOMS
- Cannot turn on the API gas for the TQ Detector after a power outage
- Desolvation temperature will not rise above 40 °C
- Turbo speed readback on Diagnostic tab of Tune page is 99%
- Status of mass spectrometer at the bottom of the sample list page is Instrument Present
- After resetting communications, API gas will still not come on, desolvation temperature is 40 °C, and the turbo speed is 0%
ENVIRONMENT
- TQ Detector
- Xevo TQD
CAUSE
Communication error and instrument vented
FIX or WORKAROUND
- Close MassLynx and all of the associated windows.
- Push the red reset button on the TQ Detector.
- Operate LED will turn red.
- Wait for the LED to turn off, and wait until you hear the fluidics valves on the TQ Detector.
- Open MassLynx. Wait to see the Not Scanning status at the bottom of the sample list page.
- Open the MS Tune page.
- From the menus, select Vacuum > Pump.
- On the Diagnostic tab, wait for the Turbo speed to reach 100%.
- Turn on API and Col gases.
- Put the TQ Detector into Operate.
- Watch for desolvation and source temperatures to rise appropriately.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Note, the same or very similar scenario will occur if the mass spectrometer is power off with out vent the system first.
