" Detector Error" showing in the ACQUITY MS Console for the Xevo TQ mass spectrometer - WKB10519

SYMPTOMS

• "Detector error" in ACQUITY MS Console
• No control of Xevo TQ mass spectrometer from MS Console or MS Tune page.
• Found: MS status in MassLynx = "Instrument Present"
• Found: On Tune page, in Vacuum menu, only option is Cancel Vent.

ENVIRONMENT

• Xevo TQ MS
• Xevo TQ-S micro
• Xevo TQ-S cronos
• MassLynx 4.1
• MassLynx 4.2
• Xevo TQ Absolute

CAUSE

Communication error between MassLynx PC and Xevo TQ mass spectrometer.

FIX or WORKAROUND

1. Close MassLynx and ACQUITY MS Console.
2. Restart MassLynx PC.
3. Log into Windows, but do not start MassLynx.
4. Push RESET button on Xevo TQ mass spectrometer (inside small hole between the power button and the status LEDs on the front of the system).
5. Operate LED turns RED when reset starts and turns off when reset completes.
6. Launch MassLynx.
