How to do an electronic reboot on a SYNAPT or Q-Tof Premier - WKB1045

OBJECTIVE or GOAL

Electronic reboot on a SYNAPT system under vacuum

ENVIRONMENT

• MassLynx 4.1 
• SYNAPT G2
• SYNAPT G2-S
• SYNAPT G2-Si
• SYNAPT XS
• SYNAPT
• Q-Tof Premier

PROCEDURE

1. Exit MassLynx.
2. Switch the pump control switch to the right (override) position from the left (auto) position. This is the top toggle switch above the breakers.
3. Switch the epc and aux breakers to the down position.
4. Switch the electronics breaker to the down position.  
5. Wait a minute or two, and then reboot the host PC.
6. Once logged into the host PC, you can also power cycle ACQUITY before proceeding.
7. Switch the electronics breaker to the up position (the PC must be powered-on and logged in, and the ACQUITY must be powered-on at this point).
8. Wait one minute.
9. Switch the epc and aux breakers to the up position.
10. Wait for the epc to boot (the flashing white/purple light on the Synapt G2/S/Si will stop flashing and will remain solid white/purple).
11. Wait another minute.
12. Open the tune page in MassLynx.
13. Click View > Vacuum, and then go to the vacuum tab and ensure that you have real vacuum readings (not 1e-8 for the Tof vacuum). If not, reboot again.
14. Switch the pump control (toggle) switch to the left (auto) position from the right (override) position.
15. Put the MS into Operate mode.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Be sure the system is under vacuum (rough pumps are on) before switching the pump override switch.
