With ACQUITY UPLC, abnormal peak shape when analyzing naphthalene - WKB94377

Article number: 94377

SYMPTOMS

  • When naphthalene is analyzed, it is okay if the eluent is methanol or acetonitrile, but the peak shape becomes abnormal when it is in THF
  • All leak tests pass
  • Mobile phase feed is normal with no pulsation
  • The peak shape is abnormal even when the sample injection volume is 2 μL and 10 μL
  • The sample injection method is a partial loop
  • The weak wash solvent is the same as the initial gradient conditions
  • The same THF is used as the sample dilution solvent
  • The peak shape is normal when measured under the same measurement conditions, the same sample, and the same column with another ACQUITY UPLC H-Class

ENVIRONMENT

  • ACQUITY UPLC
  • ACQUITY UPLC PDA eλ Detector
  • SQ Detector

CAUSE

Without using the column stabilizer, port 6 of the injector valve to the column was connected with a PEEK tube.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Analyze using a column stabilizer (205000291 for 50-100 mm columns).
