2695 Separations Module: Can I use it at a flow rate of 5 mL/min? - WKB91290

Article number: 91290

ENVIRONMENT

  • 2695 Separations Module

ANSWER

This is possible according to the specifications, but it is recommended to avoid using a flow rate of 5 mL/min.
- The reasons are as follows.
- Even you use thicker tubes before and after the column, the pump and injector tubes remain 0.009 inch, which results in a pressure rise during injection.
- The degassing ability of the degasser can be exceeded
- Deterioration of plunger and plunger seal becomes 5 times faster
- It is necessary to confirm that the pressure limit of the detector cell is not exceeded.
- It is necessary to use thicker tubes not only for the column front and back but also at the outlet of the detector cell.
- The gradient mixing can be insufficient

Up to a flow rate of 3 mL/min is within the range of normal use.

Use 0.02 inch (0.5 mm) as a guide when try to use thicker tubes.
