SYMPTOMS

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager–FTN fails needle seal readiness test with negative pressure difference result        

ENVIRONMENT

• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle
• ACQUITY UPLC Sample Manager - Flow Through Needle PLUS (SM-FTN PLUS)
• ACQUITY UPLC H-Class
• ACQUITY UPLC I-Class

CAUSE

A 0.06-µL/min LC flow rate is too low with 150-cm column selection, even though pressure is stable at 5000 psi.

FIX or WORKAROUND

Change to standard ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 1.7µm 2.1x50mm column (186002350). (A 0.4-µL/min flow passes with 5000 psi.)
