NanoACQUITY or M-Class System overpressure - WKB8168

Article number: 8168

SYMPTOMS

  • H/W overpressure error for the nano Binary Solvent Manager (nBSM).
  • Start flow and it quickly spikes to a high pressure.

ENVIRONMENT

  • NanoACQUITY
  • ACQUITY M-Class

CAUSE

Debris blocking the lines. Potentially contaminated or low quality solvents.

FIX or WORKAROUND

  1. Prepare fresh mobile phases with new,  unopened LCMS grade solvents and additives.
  2. Flush with high organic in Analytical mode overnight at as high a flow rate as possible without getting overpressure.
  3. If there is still high pressure, disconnect the trap column from port 6 of the inject valve and plumb some PEEK tubing to port 6 going to waste (or place a wad of Kim wipes below the inject valve to catch the solvent).
  4. Prime A and B, and then flush with acetonitrile/water/methanol/isopropyl alcohol and 0.2% formic acid for at least three hours at 15 uL/min.
  5. Prime and flush with fresh normal A and B solvents (water for A and acetonitrile for B) for 15 minutes at 15 uL/min.
  6. Stop flow and attach the trap column.
